Cara D'Emanuele hails from a two stop-light town in upstate New York where she could be seen twirling a rifle in The Mexico Matadors Marching Band, dancing in the High School German Club's Folk Dance Troupe, and singing in the chorus. Her artistic talents developed not only through years of dance and piano lessons (thanks, mom!) but also through her never-ending daydreams of floats she would design for The Rose Bowl Parade, a career singing and dancing aboard The Love Boat, guest appearances on The Brady Bunch, and her own Carol Burnett-style variety television show. Growing up during the late 1960's - early 1980's with limited exposure to the arts didn't impede her drive and passion. Grateful for her family and her small-town upbringing, she knew a more metropolitan life was in her future. Cara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre/Music Education from Wagner College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Syracuse University. Her 35 year career has been dedicated to arts education, most especially to the advancement of high quality education and performance opportunities for students training for careers in acting and musical theatre. She is an accomplished singer/actress and director/musical director and excels in private voice, acting, and audition training for young actors and musical theatre singers. She has served as an artist- in-residence for theatres, schools and arts organizations throughout New York State where she has developed, implemented and instructed innovative and inspiring programs for students in grades k - 12. Cara has appeared on stage and screen with credits including HBO, NBC, The Discovery Channel, TNT, New York's Beacon Theatre, and Rochester's Blackfriars Theatre and JCC Centerstage. Students from her private studio have been accepted into the country's most prestigious collegiate programs including NYU Tisch, Syracuse, Elon, Emerson, Wagner, The University of Michigan, BoCo, Pace, The Manhattan School of Music, The Cincinnati Conservatory, and Ithaca. Students and studio alum have appeared on Broadway (Newsies, Matilda, West Side Story), on National Tours (Wicked, Oliver, The Music Man, All Shook Up, Gypsy), as on-camera celebrities and news journalists, recording artists, and NYC Rockettes. Cara is mother to son Korey, a fellow Wagner College grad and New York City-based Equity stage manager and daughter Adelaide, a design student at NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology.
As a director/producer/designer, Cara creates innovative experiences finding inspiration in children's books, photographs, jazz music, ballet, fashion, costumes, film, antiques, vintage clothing, art, flea markets, opera, Cirque du Soleil, ... and most especially - the Broadway stage. She is mother to son Korey, a professional NYC-based Equity stage manager and daughter Adelaide, a design student at The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Cara is a proud graduate of Schenectady County Community College (AS in Performing Arts, 1986), Wagner College (BA Music Education, 1988), and Syracuse University (Master of Music in Vocal Performance, 1990). She is originally from Mexico, New York.
